Our mission is to ensure all students’ academic success in a safe and connected environment.
Welcome to Concord Community Schools! We hope you find this section of the website beneficial in answering some of your questions related to transportation.
Currently, the Concord Transportation Department consists of 29 bus drivers who utilize a fleet of 37 school buses to transport about 4,100 students (more than 75% of our student body) to and from school. We employ two on-site mechanics to help service and maintain our vehicles.
We travel an average of 1,200 miles per day, covering the 28 square miles of Concord and other Elkhart County locations.
Seven schools are serviced as we meet the transportation needs of our general education, special education, preschool, Head Start, Alternative School, and Elkhart Area Career Center students.
Every school year we provide over 30,000 miles of extracurricular travel for our athletes, musicians, and academic students.
Our department takes great pride in safely transporting students. We are ready to serve you and your child.
Call us at 574-875-6577 if you have further questions.
Led by our Director of Transportation, Leigh Bell, the Transportation Department ensures safe, reliable, and efficient travel for all district students and staff.
The department oversees daily bus operations, routing, scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with state and federal transportation regulations.
In addition to coordinating regular school-day transportation, the department manages busing for extracurricular activities, field trips, and special education services—supporting the broader mission of equitable access to learning.
Under the leadership of Assistant Director, Lydia Jones, the Transportation Department also collaborates with schools and families to address individual student needs and maintain open communication.
New Routing Software | Bus Right
Our Transportation Department is transitioning to a new routing software, BusRight, which will allow you to track your child’s bus route to and from school, receive notifications when a bus route begins and ends, and view the expected arrival time at your child’s bus stop. NOTE: Please be aware that bus transportation is only available to students who live within the district boundaries.
Invitations to sign-up for the BusRight app were emailed in July 2024 from the address “support@busright.com” with the subject line “You’re Invited to BusRight.” If you did NOT receive an email invitation, please email support@busright.com.
Please follow these instructions:
Download the BusRight app to your phone or other device. More information can be found on this flyer.
If your child’s route is not viewable in the app, please contact the Concord Transportation Department at 574-875-6577. Due to call volume, you may need to leave a voicemail containing your child’s name, grade, school, and a phone number where we can reach you later.
If you are unable to download the app, please call 574-875-6577 the Concord Transportation Department for assistance.
As always, we remain focused on safely transporting your child to and from school each day and providing timely communication. Thank you for your partnership and support!

We live out of district (a.k.a: tuition transfer or cash transfer). Are our children allowed to ride the school bus from a relative's home within the district?
Unless they are in a registered Daycare, transportation for Out of District students is not available from any other location. Parents/guardians must provide and/or arrange transportation for their transfer student(s) both to and from school each day.
We live in Concord district, but we want our student(s) to go to a different elementary school than the one in which we live, will Concord provide transportation from our home?
No, Concord will only provide transportation from your home to the elementary school district in which your home is located (Example: If you live in South Side district and are requesting to go to Ox Bow, we can NOT provide transportation.)
We live in the Concord district, but our babysitter and the elementary school we wish to send our child to are in the same district, will Concord provide transportation from our babysitter to a school in the same Concord elementary district?
Yes, Concord will provide transportation to students who LIVE in the district, but go to a babysitter or daycare in another Concord elementary district as long as the childcare provider is NOT in an apartment complex.
Our babysitter is in an apartment complex. May our child(ren) ride the bus from that location?
No, only children who live in an apartment complex may ride the bus from that location. If you and your child(ren)’s babysitter live in the same apartment complex, then your child may still ride the bus from that location.
I need my child to ride the bus to a different location after school on certain days of the week, is this allowed?
No. Please contact the Transportation Department at 574- 875-6577 to request accommodations if necessary.
I am a Concord employee, but live outside district boundaries. I was told it was okay for my child(ren) to ride the bus from a babysitter within the district. Is that still true?
Yes, at this time, that is correct. However the same rule applies that K-4 students can only be transported to/from the elementary school in the district in which they are picked-up and/or dropped-off.
I am a Concord employee, is it possible for my child(ren) to ride the bus before or after school from or to the building where I work?
Yes, they may ride the bus in many but not all situations. All transportation for staff children must be arranged through email AND a transportation form. Students may not ride the bus without preapproval from Transportation.
Email: lydiajones@concord.k12.in.us and nchacon@concord.k12.in.us for more information.
In the morning -
Student(s) may ride the bus from K-4 building where their parent(s) work(s) to CJHS.
Student(s) may ride the bus from CJHS to CHS.
In the afternoon -
Student(s) may ride from the K-4 building they attend to their parent(s) to CJHS.
Student(s) attending CJHS may ride the bus to their parent(s) at CHS.
We live Out of District (a.k.a: tuition transfer or cash transfer). Can our children ride the bus from a registered childcare facility?
Kids Care provides before-school care (at South Side Elementary) and after-school care (at both Ox Bow & South Side Elementaries) for students grades K-6. Concord transportation is available for these students and students attending a before/after school registered childcare facility both to and from school in the morning and afternoon no matter where they live.
Students of parents who do NOT work for Concord Community Schools may not use the bus to transfer from one building to another for any reason, other than Kids Care.
CHS may NOT have transportation from a babysitter/daycare provider. Only K-8.
