Acceptable Use Agreement for iPads

Purpose:

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the use of iPads at Concord are consistent with the school's mission and objectives. In alignment with Board Policy 7540, this agreement outlines the acceptable use of iPads and sets forth the consequences for misuse.

Scope:

This agreement applies to all students and staff members who use iPads provided by Concord Community Schools.

Acceptable Use:

a. iPads provided by CCS are to be used for educational purposes only.

b. Users are expected to follow all school rules and guidelines, as outlined in board policy.

c. Users must not access or attempt to access any unauthorized networks or systems.

d. Users must not use iPads for any illegal or unethical activities, such as cyberbullying, harassment, or plagiarism.

e. Users must not share their login information or passwords with others.

f. Users must report any suspected security breaches or inappropriate use of iPads to school authorities.

Unacceptable Use:

a. Users must not download or install any unauthorized applications or software on iPads.

b. Users must not access, download, or share any inappropriate or offensive materials, such as pornographic, violent, or discriminatory content.

c. Users must not use iPads to disrupt or interfere with the school's network or other electronic devices.

d. Users must not use iPads to access or engage in social media or streaming media during class time or other designated learning activities.

Consequences for Misuse:

a. Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or revocation of iPad privileges.

b. Users may also be subject to legal action if their activities violate federal or state laws or regulations.

Responsibility:

a. Users are responsible for the proper care of iPads. The case must stay on the iPad at all times to properly protect the iPad. Only use a clean, soft, dry cloth to clean the screen. Do not use cleansers of any type.

b. The school district reserves the right to inspect iPads and monitor user activities to ensure compliance with this policy.

Acknowledgement:

By using iPads provided by the public school, users agree to comply with this policy and acknowledge that they have read and understand it. Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or revocation of iPad privileges.

iPad Charger Replacement

The CCS Technology Department will sell Apple brand chargers at cost ($19). Families are welcome to purchase off-brand chargers, however, when the iPad is turned back into CCS, it must be returned with an Apple brand charger or payment of Apple brand charger ($19). 

Logitech Keyboard Combo Case Repair

The keyboard combo case comes with a limited manufacturer's warranty. If the keyboard combo case is defective and covered by manufacturer’s warranty, then there will be no cost to replace. If there is intentional or accidental damage, the case will need to be replaced at full price ($99).

Logitech Crayon

Each CCS student will be given a Logitech Crayon. If the crayon is defective and covered under manufacturer’s warranty, there will be no cost. If there is intentional or accidental damage, a new Logitech Crayon may be purchased from CCS at cost ($50). Additionally, families may purchase a replacement Logitech Crayon on their own as long as it is the same model as the original Logitech Crayon.

Lost or Stolen iPads

a. The district reserves the right to charge for the entire replacement cost if negligence is determined. Examples of negligence include but are not limited to losing or destroying your iPad.

b. Claims of theft will be handled by the Concord Police Department only after a report has been filed by the student. Based upon the determination of the Concord Police Department a replacement may be provided or the student will be charged the entire replacement cost of your iPad.
