HIGH ABILITY OFFERINGS AT CONCORD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

Concord Community School provides high ability services for more than 1,100 students K-12.  We respect the unique learning needs of students who demonstrate or who show the potential for outstanding achievement.  We provide a continuum of appropriate experiences to nurture, motivate, and challenge these students to reach extraordinary levels of performance. 

Elementary

  • Kindergarten: Consultation as needed

  • 1st and 2nd Grade: General enrichment and/or consultation, at least 4 times a week for 30 min

  • 3rd Grade:

    • Math: Daily enrichment for 60 min (direct curriculum instruction by HA teacher)

    • Reading: Daily enrichment for 30 min (direct curriculum instruction by HA teacher)

  • 4th Grade:

    • Math: Daily direct instruction of math curriculum for 90 min, all math assessments, assignments and grades are from high ability teacher

    • Reading: Daily enrichment for 30 min by HA teacher (direct instruction of curriculum in homeroom)

Intermediate

  • 5th and 6th Grade:

    • Language Arts: Daily direct instruction for 70 minutes 

    • Math: Daily direct instruction for 70 minutes (5th gets 6th grade math, and 6th grade receives either 7th grade math or pre-algebra)

Jr High

  • 7th and 8th Grade: Daily scheduling for social studies and language arts, and math services are provided from pre-algebra, algebra 1, and geometry (There are also 2 sections of high ability science in grade 7 and 2 sections of biology for grade 8)

High School

  • 9th - 10th Grade: Direct instruction through honor level courses

  • 9th - 12th Grade: Offers AP, honors level, and dual credit courses (Course Description Guide)
